chair kwame brown wille u.s. district court judge to learn his fate today. >> he resigned and pleaded guilty to bank fraud charges in june. melanie alnwick is live in northwest d.c. with the latest. >> reporter: good morning. you know, kwame brown actually has two sentencing hearings hearings today. the first in federal court on those bank fraud charged and then the second later this afternoon in d.c. superior court on campaign finance violation charges. now, as you mentioned, brown pleaded guilty in june. after a year-long investigation, the federal charges relate to providing false information on bank loan applications. one of the loan was for a 39- foot boat. brown also forged the signature of a friend on an application and doctored two forms to overstate his income by tens of thousands of dollars. the other charges go back to an audit by d.c.'s office of campaign finance. it found that brown's 2008 election campaign failed to report more than $400,000 in contributions an expenditures and that $239,000 wound up in the hands of a consulting company controlled by brown's brother. kwa

it was used as a getaway car, but declined to release the make or model. >> i can tell you the vehicle was fully engulfed and we're treating it as a possible suspect vehicle at the time. >> this wal-mart off of the baltimore washington parkway is opened around the clock and it's unclear how many shoppers and employees were inside at the time of the robbery. and a wal-mart spokesperson said he's part of the team. employees were given access to counselors if they feel the need. we have an update on the vehicle. the county police have now released more information about on that vehicle. now describing it as a dark similarred van and not giving us anymore information. call 911 if you recognize the man. >> and just to clarify here, do police believe there could be a connection between this gunman and someone else in the store? >> not that they know of at this point. what we know and what police told us, we know nothing about whether or not there might have been a relationship. this appears to be a commercial robbery and that is how the police are describing it at this hour. >> all right, p

. we'll get into the particulars of virginia. how it matters and what it could tell us about the rest of the nation. the implications are many as virginia goes, well, is models for the rest of the nation may go. then there is the state of georgia. the polls have just closed there at 7:00 eastern and it, too, is too close to call. but then there is the state of indiana. "fox news" now projects governor mitt romney will win the state of indiana which president obama did win four years ago. that's a turnover. 5% of the votes in but the model suggests to us it is good gh to mitt romney according to the "fox news" decision team has won the state of indiana. house in chevy chase-d.c. and she uses the canes, the family member said, to constantly walk around the neighborhood and to nearby stores. the attack sent the woman to the hospital. police are asking neighbors to call if they remember seeing anyone unfamiliar to the area in the afternoon. because the assailant was wearing a mask and she was vision impaired, there is no description of the guy not even the clothing. he took from the house an apple computer. according to the neighborhood listserv, a suspicious man was located, or spotted in another backyard this week. they want anyone else who may have made sightings to call them. they made physical or clothing descriptions. the 81-year-old remains in a local hospital and -- i am told, the d.c. metropolitan police made an arrest in this case, and i will tell you how i believe this was broken. in the other backyard, there were guests in the house and they didn't like the way he was acting. he moved a flower pot and they took a photograph of him and supplied that photo to police. i am guessing that is what led to the crack in this case.

conservatives he's got to have a different perspective. the leadership has to say no. i used this example and i want to use it again. i remember that house members and senators. they would hand out pens and these house members and senators would want a pen, because that had something to do with being a statesman, and a leader, and caring more about the country than just being reelected that has to be a change of mind. the president, i must say this, he's got to mix it up. he's got to be a little more lbj and bill clinton. if you're in politics you've got to pick up the phone. >> there is some short term business that can be done in this city. looming over the head of thousands of defense industry workers in this area. the republican house, or democratic senate were not able to come to an agreement on this, basically, because they were at lager heads for most of the summer. they come back now to this city. is this a chance to demonstrate the fact that despite the differences, despite that they were thrown into this caldron, that they can actually work together and maybe avoid these defense cuts.
